European Commission have adopted its 2021 work programme. The 2021 Commission work programme sees a shift from strategy to delivery across six political priorities such as:

  1. A European Green Deal
  2. A Europe fit for the digital age
  3. An economy that works for people
  4. A stronger Europe in the world
  5. Promoting our European way of life
  6. A new push for European democracy

Among the proposals and assumptions that may be important for the commercial real estate sector, we can mention:

  • issues related to energy efficiency and the energy performance of buildings;
  • taking steps to stimulate investment in the European Union;
  • a proposal to create a New Industrial Strategy for Europe that covers issues such as competition, green economy and digitization;
  • activities related to strengthening the circular economy

In 2021, new initiatives are to be presented, complementing the Commission's actions undertaken so far.

We can then expect the Polish legislator to implement the solutions proposed at the EU level. This may contribute to the introduction of statutory changes in Poland.

The official information of the European Commission in this regard is available here: https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_20_1940
