The office market, once a stable segment of the commercial real estate industry, has now become a testing ground. A grand return of employees to their assigned desks is in the offing, or will office spaces become primarily a place for exchanging ideas, mentoring, and team-building, rather than a symbol of a 40-hour workweek? It turns out that Elon Musk's "go back to the office or leave" vision is not shared by both employers and employees of many companies and international corporations. The return to office buildings is one of the factors shaping the so-called "great resignation" in the United States. Therefore, most CEOs and managers are opting for a "hybrid" approach. The situation is similar in Europe. According to the IWG Global Workspace Survey, half of employees spent an average of 2.5 working days in offices, and four in five confirmed their willingness to work hybrid. So what will it be like – will we return to offices full-time, or will "some office, some home" prove to be an experience that fundamentally changes the global office market? Experts from member firms of the Polish Chamber of Commercial Real Estate (PINK) answer these questions.
