PINK, KPMG in Poland and POLSIF WEBINAR: Green Financing of the (Wave) Renovation of Commercial Buildings [January 21, 2025]

GREEN FINANCING OF (WAVE) RENOVATIONS IN COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS

EVENT ORGANIZED ONLINE
JANUARY 21, 2025, 12:00–13:30

During the meeting, we will examine the practical financing options for the renovation and modernization of commercial buildings in terms of meeting the requirements of the EU Taxonomy, the Renovation Wave assumptions, and the European Circular Economy Action Plan in Poland, compared to European markets. What is the approach of commercial banks versus the expectations of commercial property owners, including investment funds?

The scale of the building renovation area in all market sectors is significant:

  • there are about 220 million buildings in the EU, of which 85-95% will survive until 2050 and beyond, in Poland about 14 million of all buildings;
  • only 3% buildings have an energy class of A, the remaining 97% require renovation;
  • 70% of buildings require deep renovation to achieve a minimum of 60% of energy savings;
  • The current level of deep renovation of buildings of approximately 0.2% per year is insufficient, it is necessary to increase this level to 3% per year to achieve climate neutrality goals.

EU estimates put the annual investment in energy efficient building renovations at EUR 85-95 billion vs EUR 275+ billion of additional investment per year to achieve 55% of greenhouse gas emission reductions by 2030. This is the largest investment gap of all EU Green Deal sectors.

How are Western European countries approaching this challenge compared to Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland? Is the commercial real estate sector prepared to undertake building renovations with external financing or investor equity? What actions should stakeholders in the commercial real estate investment sector take to accelerate the renovation process?

The topic of financing the renovation wave will be presented during an introductory presentation, and we will seek answers to these questions during a panel discussion representing the banking sector, property owners and consulting firms, whose participants will share their experiences and suggestions regarding possible solutions for financing the renovation of the commercial real estate sector in Poland.

The online meeting is free for POLSIF members and representatives of PINK Association member companies. For other participants, the event fee is PLN 400.00 + VAT.
