In 2024, on the initiative of Sustainable Investment Forum Poland (POLSIF), in cooperation with Polish Chamber of Commercial Real Estate (PINK), Polish Council of Shopping Centres (PRCH) and Polish Green Building Council (PLGBC) and JWA, was created Working Group composed of representatives of the largest financial institutions and real estate market experts.
The Group's goal was to make it easier for bank customers and real estate companies to meet the requirements arising from European Union (EU) Taxonomy. In the face of complex regulations that raise many questions regarding documentation requirements and the interpretation of criteria, the Working Group has developed a document explaining these assumptions in a practical and understandable way.
The result of the work is a document that:
- simplifies the complex assumptions of the EU Taxonomy, transforming them into clear and precise documentation requirements,
- supports companies in preparing appropriate materials that may be required by banks and financial institutions,
- facilitates dialogue between financial institutions and clients from the real estate sector, creating a common framework for action.
This publication is aimed at real estate companies that carry out bank-financed investments and helps them better understand what information is required to meet the qualification criteria related to mitigating climate change EU Taxonomy.
The study was also submitted for consultation. Working Group on the Application of the EU Taxonomy by Ministry of Development and Technology, which further strengthens its importance and value for the market.
„"The challenges associated with implementing the EU Taxonomy often leave both financial institutions and clients unsure of the specific documentation requirements needed. Thanks to our collaboration, we were able to develop a document that makes these requirements clear and supports clients in meeting sustainability standards," emphasizes Joanna Ałasa, Member of the Management Board of POLSIF.
